Meet Loik Charles from Dominica, who is the first blind person to ever earn a bachelor’s degree from the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in San Antonio, Texas.
The Young man Loik Charles experienced difficulties that caused him to lose his vision. He said that he was given too much oxygen by medical professionals and was prematurely delivered with cataracts.

In an interview with Dominica news, he explained to them: “So the combination of these two messed up the membranes behind my eyes. I was told, I was not born blind.”
He went further to say that he is just like a normal person and can do many things despite being blind.
